An active shooter getting close to the president for a second time was so quickly metabolized by Washington. The White House Correspondents Dinner remains the biggest night of the year for the capital's journalists.

CNN anchor Jessica Dean, at about 5:11 p.m. ET, reported one suspect was in custody. That report was based on one of the notifications from Brown's campus alert system, which was retracted minutes later by the university. President Donald Trump similarly posted on Truth Social the FBI is on the scene and that the suspect is in custody although Brown University put out a conflicting notification right after, saying the suspect had not been apprehended.

Multiple people have been hurt in a shooting at a church in Grand Blanc, Michigan, police said on Sunday morning. The Grand Blanc Township Police Department said in a Facebook post at 11:12 a.m. that there was an active shooter at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 4825 McCandlish Rd., and "there are multiple victims," and that the shooter "is down."

Three people have been shot at an Immigration and U.S. Customs and Enforcement facility in Dallas and the shooter is dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, the agency's director said. Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons confirmed the shooting during an interview on CNN on Wednesday. It could be employees, it could be civilians that were visiting the facility, it could be detainees, Lyons said of those who were shot. At this point, we're still working through that.

VILLANOVA, Pa. (AP) - Police responded Thursday to a report of an active shooter on the campus of Villanova University, days before the start of classes. Students shared a text from the Villanova alert system that told them to lock and barricade doors and move to secure locations. A second alert from Villanova officials warned people to stay away from the law school.

We're horrified by the news out of Emory University and praying for the safety of the entire campus community, said Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr.

During evening rush hour in New York City, a man killed a police officer in a Park Avenue lobby, then opened fire on innocent bystanders, resulting in four deaths and injuries.
